In Italy, employers are involved in the vaccination campaign, a key step in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
On 6 April 2021, the Italian government, unions and employers’ associations signed an agreement to make it possible to vaccinate employees in the workplace.
Our Italian member reviews the various laws and regulations relating to employees’ vaccination under privacy law, in particular decree no. 44 of 1 April 2021 on the mandatory vaccination of healthcare professionals, and the organisational difficulties that they may pose for employers.
The article also analyses the position of the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) with regard to the FAQ it published on the vaccination of employees in the health sector, and points out the inconsistencies that may result from the legislative inflation that accompanied the health crisis.
