George Ballas

George Ballas, Senior and Managing Partner at Ballas Pelecanos Law, heads the firm’s IP, IT & CT Practice Groups. He has extensive experience in all contentious and non-contentious aspects of the broad IP/IT/CT spectrum, and has been offering expert advice in specialist fields, such as electronic communications, pharmaceutical patents and anti-counterfeiting, for almost five decades.

An ex-Secretary General of the Hellenic Parliament, George is a widely acclaimed advocate before the Supreme Courts of Greece and a qualified European Patent attorney. As well as heading the firm’s litigation team in complex pharmaceutical patent and anti-counterfeiting cases, he also:

• provides legal assistance and expert advice to domestic and international clients on complex contentious and non-contentious matters involving trademarks, designs and patents;
• undertakes the development and management of strategic initiatives for optimizing his clients’ intellectual assets protection, exploitation and enforcement;
• has extensive litigation experience, including in cross-jurisdictional cases, especially concerning patent matters;
• drafts and negotiates agreements pertaining to a wide array of IP, IT and CT matters;
• heads international projects for the implementation of new legal and regulatory frameworks in the broad IP/IT/CT spectrum;
• represents clients for all IP, IT and CT related matters before regulatory bodies and public authorities.
